There is no person who has not heard in his childhood these words: “eat carrots to have good vision”. But this vegetable is not the only one which protect our eyes, but all orange fruits and vegetables. They contain beta-carotene, soluble vitamin that helps the proper functioning of the retina and, therefore, improves eyesight and prevents diseases caused by aging.

But not only beta-carotene may help prevent vision problems but also other vitamins and minerals in these five foods:

Leafy green vegetables – are important resources of lutein and zeaxanthin, antioxidants which studies have shown can reduce the risk of developing macular degeneration and cataracts.

Egg-yolk in particular has rich sources of antioxidants and zinc, with an important role in preventing eye diseases as we age.
